The Black Barbershop Health Outreach Program's national expansion was made possible in part by support from The Abbott Fund, Charles R. Drew University, The Prostate Cancer Foundation, AARP, Novo Nordisk and many others. Since its inception, the program has screened over 30,000 men for diabetes and high blood pressure. Black Barbershop has been the inspiration for other similar programs across the country and around the world.
Black Barbershop owes a special thanks to the thousands of black-owned barber shops across the country that made it possible to reach African American men where they feel safe. Strategic partnerships with Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc, The Black Nurses Association, The Retired NBA Players Association. and numerous HBCU's made it possible to fulfill our mission to screen and educate African American men about the devastating effects of cardiovascular disease.
It's all hands on deck! We see seeking health care providers, black owned barbershops and volunteers to join the digital health platform to save lives. Now you can see a black doctor, on your mobile devices
